Welcome to our website

Hello, we are members of the Cleveland Civitan Club.  Tammy Bentley is our local president for 2008. Our passion is leadership! Our mission is to make a difference in people's lives who have a developmental disability.  We do this through sponsorship of the local Special Olympics, and activities (e.g., golf tournament and annual auction) that increase social awareness of the needs of developmentally disabled citizens.  All monies from these activities go to support local special-needs programs.  

Beyond this, recently the United States Federal Drug Administration funded 40 million dollars to test a cancer treatment vaccine for children.  This treatment for childhood cancer was researched and developed by medical scientists at our Civitan International facility in Birmingham, Alabama.  Several of our local members were privileged to visit with the scientist who developed this potential cancer treatment from 'scorpion venom'.  We are proud that membership dues contribute to these research efforts.

We are also proud of local companies and their commitment to our vision.  Many local industries encourage employees to become active members in local civic clubs such as Civitan.  Do you have anyone in your company that is part of our membership?  If not, we hope that you will consider joining us this year.
